Ember Months: Amotekun flags off special border operation

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has flagged off a special operation to strengthen security and intensify border patrols across the state during the Ember months.
Adetunji Adeleye, commander of the corps, at the flag-off on Thursday in Ajebandele, a border town between Ondo and Ogun, said the operation would also strengthen the security of other South-West states.
The special operation, tagged “Operation Lewonjade,” covered key boundary points between Ondo, Ekiti, and Osun.
According to Mr Adeleye, the joint border patrol between these states is a renewed effort to secure communities, forests, and farmlands during the ember period.
The commander stated Amotekun’s resolve to ensure kidnappers, bandits, armed robbers, and miscreants were driven from the forests and borders.
“Residents should be security-conscious and report any suspicious movement or unfamiliar faces to Amotekun or other security agencies by calling our distress line. I assure you that help will come promptly.
“This is not business as usual. We now have modern tools to expose and apprehend bandits hiding in our forests. Security is a collective responsibility. Amotekun alone cannot do it.
“This initiative was made possible through the support and commitment of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of lives and properties across the state,” he said.
