The executive chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Ayo Omidiran, has sought a strategic collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to strengthen data-driven governance and transparency.

Ms Omidiran made the call when she received the director-general of NITDA, Kashifu Abdullahi, and his delegation in her office.

The chair, in a statement on Friday by her media aide, Samuel Ahmadu, reiterated the need for digital innovation and inter-agency collaboration.

This, according to her, will strengthen transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance in Nigeria’s public institutions.

She reaffirmed the commission’s constitutional mandate to promote equity and balanced representation in the public sector, noting that adoption of technology-driven systems would enhance compliance monitoring and institutional efficiency.

“The Federal Character Commission supervises and monitors over 700 ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) nationwide.

“Therefore, strategic collaboration with technology agencies like NITDA will strengthen data-driven governance and transparency,” she said.

Ms Omidiran added that integrating digital solutions into public administration would equally support fair representation, improve oversight mechanisms, and reinforce national cohesion.

According to her, technology remains a critical enabler in advancing inclusive governance and ensuring that opportunities within public service reflect Nigeria’s diversity.

Earlier, Mr Abdullahi commended the commission’s leadership and emphasised the role of digital transformation in modern governance.

He stressed that aligning regulatory frameworks with emerging technologies would improve efficiency across MDAs.

Mr Abdullahi explained that the visit was to congratulate the commission’s boss, strengthen collaborations, and explore how innovation and digital infrastructure could better support the FCC’s constitutional responsibilities.

The DG reaffirmed NITDA’s commitment to supporting institutions that promote transparency, efficiency, and national development through responsible technology adoption.
