Four Muslims killed, 10 others missing in Plateau attack: JNI

Jama’atu Nasril Islam in Plateau State has said four Muslims died and 10 other missing in the deadly attack in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of the state on Palm Sunday.
The JNI Secretary, Salim Umar, in a statement on Tuesday, said the disclosure followed a thorough investigation into the casualties recorded in the attack.
The Islamic group stated that contrary to reports that only Christians were affected, casualties were not limited to a single religious group.
Mr Umar stated, “The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Plateau State chapter, regrets to confirm the death of four Muslims and reports 10 others missing following the recent attack on Anguwan Rukuba community in the Jos North Local Government Area.
“Following thorough investigation and reports received from Muslim communities, we have discovered that four Muslims were killed while 10 are still missing.”
Noting that some of the victims were currently receiving medical attention at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, he stated that others remained missing after the incident.
“We have also discovered that two persons are currently receiving treatment at JUTH. JNI is in touch with the families of the victims,” he added.
The Islamic group commiserated with the bereaved families, urging the public to remain calm and law-abiding.
“We appreciate the efforts of the state government and the security agencies for controlling the situation,” Mr Umar stated.
The clarification came amid the attack in Jos community which left over 30 residents dead and several others severely injured.
Meanwhile, a U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore, who insisted that the killings targeted Christians, described the massacre as unacceptable.
“If they don’t take this threat seriously and mobilise to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ, the blood of these martyrs will be on their hands, and there will be significant consequences for Nigeria’s relationship with the United States,” Mr Moore said in a statement on Sunday.
