The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun has advised Muslims to have adequate rest after sahur in order to reduce road crashes during Ramadan.

Sahur, also known as sahari, is a meal consumed by Muslims prior to fasting during Ramadan.

The Sagamu unit commander of FRSC, Taofiq Iyanda, in an interview on Sunday in Sagamu, said the advice was to prevent Muslims from sleeping while driving.

“Sleeping unconsciously while driving on the highways could lead to road crashes, thus resulting in loss of lives and sometimes confined injured persons’ to wheelchairs.” he said.

Mr Iyanda enjoined them to plan their journeys in order not to be in a hurry to go home to break their fastings.

He further implored them to put their vehicles in good condition before putting them on the roads as well as adhere to traffic rules.
