Working from home

A new YouGov poll on Monday revealed that two-thirds of German employees who have been working from home due to the coronavirus crisis want to keep doing so after the pandemic.

Energy supplier Eon, which commissioned the survey, said the popularity of working from within your own four walls has increased in the wake of the pandemic.

A total of 71 per cent of those queried said they would like to be able to work from home in the future. At the beginning of the pandemic in May 2019, it was only 58 per cent.

A good quarter (26 per cent) of those surveyed would like to work at home all the time, while 45 per cent want to alternate between their home office and their company workplace.

According to the survey, the main reason for the growing popularity of home office work is the time saved by eliminating the need to commute. This is the reason given by 70 per cent of those surveyed.

Other reasons are the more flexible working hours (57 per cent), saved travel costs (52 per cent), and positive effects on the environment (43 per cent).
