Governor Hyacinth Alia has set up a forensic panel to audit Lobi Stars Football Club’s finances.

The audit was announced in a statement by Emmanuel Ujah, the club’s spokesman, on Wednesday.

Mr Alia constituted the panel after he received Daniel Amokachi, the new technical adviser to the club, at the Government House, Makurdi.

The governor said that the panel was imperative because of the persistent complaints of players and officials not paying salaries despite the government’s financial obligations to the club.

The forensic audit team includes Sam Chir, Bishop Dzungwe, Akpusugh Terungwa, and Gberindyer Chia.

Mr Alia lauded Mr Amokachi’s international football career and urged him to improve the club’s fortunes.

He also presented him with a club-branded jersey.

Mr Amokachi, in his remarks, thanked the governor and the people of Benue for the warm reception accorded him since he arrived.

The former Super Eagles player emphasised that paying players salaries was a big motivation for the team to perform well in the football league.

Philip Nongu, chairman of Lobi Stars FC, said in his brief remarks that he was at the Government House to present to the governor the new technical adviser of the club.
