A group, APC Zone One Concerned Stakeholders in Kaduna, says competence, consolidation and continuity are the yardsticks to consider by the party to choose Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s successor.

Addressing a press conference on Monday in Kaduna, the group’s spokesman Ahmad Lere demanded that the next governor should come from Kaduna North.

He lamented the exclusion of Kaduna North from key federal and state elective and political appointments, saying that contributions of Kaduna North Federal Constituency to the success of APC at 2015 and 2019 polls could not be overemphasised.

According to Mr Lere, the zone has qualified, capable persons to succeed Mr El-Rufai.

”Important positions, both elected and appointed, are from zones two and three at the detriment of zone one, which has been instrumental to the success, growth and development of APC in Kaduna,” he pointed out. ”We, therefore, urge our great party to zone the next governorship slot to Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the interest of justice and fair play.”
