Islamic cleric urges Borno residents to seek Allah’s forgiveness over erratic rainfall

An Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abdullahi Masa, has called on residents of Maiduguri and other parts of Borno to seek Allah’s forgiveness and engage in fervent prayers over the erratic rainfall being experienced in the state.
Speaking in an interview with journalists on Saturday in Maiduguri, Mr Masa expressed concern over the irregular rainfall pattern and stressed the need for spiritual reflection and repentance among residents.
He advised community members to turn away from sinful acts and seek divine mercy to attract Allah’s blessings, including adequate rainfall for agriculture and human sustenance.
The cleric expressed optimism that through sincere repentance and prayers, Allah would shower the state with abundant rainfall and blessings, “thereby supporting farming activities and improving the livelihoods of residents.”
He urged residents to desist from social vices such as fornication, adultery, rape, the killing of innocent people, and other immoral acts, noting that such behaviours attract Allah’s displeasure.
“The people should sincerely repent, seek forgiveness, and return to the path of righteousness.
“Allah is displeased with acts of immorality and injustice. We must ask for His mercy and forgiveness,” he said.
Mr Masa emphasised the importance of collective prayers, urging religious leaders, families, and communities to intensify supplications for peace, prosperity, and favourable weather conditions across the state.
He also encouraged residents to strengthen their faith, uphold moral values, and promote harmony within society.
The cleric called on the people to remain steadfast in worship and to continue praying for the state’s progress and development.
