Gov Yusuf vows to tackle corruption

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano has reaffirmed his commitment to fighting corruption, stressing that leaders must stand on their feet to minimise corruption.
This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa in Kano on Friday.
Mr Yusuf made this statement while receiving the national executive members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) led by the national president, Joe Ajaero, at the Government House, Kano.
Mr Yusuf emphasised that his administration’s transparency and accountability crusade has enabled the sustained implementation of the minimum wage.
He said that before signing the new salary bill into law, the state’s financial records were scrutinised to prevent corruption and financial leakages.
The governor also highlighted his administration’s efforts in bolstering education, citing the Postgraduate Scholarship Programme, under which he has sponsored 600 students to study abroad.
He announced plans to visit India to meet with the students and assess their progress.
Mr Yusuf also mentioned the revival of 26 entrepreneurship Institutions to train youth in various skills, promoting productivity.
Mr Ajaero extolled the governor’s commitment to the people of the state, urging others to emulate him.
