An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, has sentenced a 50-year-old security guard, Abiodun Komolafe, to one year imprisonment for stealing goods worth N103,000 from his employer’s supermarket.

The convict, from Asunle, Odo-Ona Elewe area, Ibadan, pleaded guilty to the charge when arraigned on August 19 on a one-count charge of stealing.

The Magistrate, M. M. Olagbenro-Adelaja, sentenced Komolafe after he pleaded guilty to stealing from his employer.

Olagbenro-Adelaja said, “The defendant is hereby sentenced to one year imprisonment without an option of fine. The defendant shall repay the sum of N103,000 to the complainant.”

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Salewa Hammed, between August 12 and 13, at about 2.30 a.m., at Ring Road, Ibadan, the convict stole goods worth N103,000 from the supermarket he was employed to secure.

Hammed said the convict stole from Sunrise Supermarket, which belonged to one Joseph Makinde of Oluyole area, Ibadan.

He said the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000(NAN)
