How I survived after being hit by stray bullet: Broda Shaggi

Nigerian comedian Samuel Animashaun Perry, aka Broda Shaggi, recounted on Wednesday how he survived a gunshot wound.
In a video, his first public statement after a stray bullet hit him in March, Broda Shaggi narrated how he was flown abroad for surgery after a previous operation in Lagos.
“March 9, 2026, was a crazy day in my life; I wish it had never happened. Everything happened so fast that I barely could understand what was happening around me. We were done with the brand activation and already leaving when there was a holdup. All I heard was a loud bang everywhere, then silence. I touched my hips and saw blood when it dawned on me that I had been hit by a stray bullet.
“I was totally unconscious till we got to the hospital. I didn’t even know how I got to the hospital, but one thing I could remember was praying until we got to the first hospital where first aid was administered; they tried to cut what I was wearing so they could see where the bullet had hit. When I saw it myself, I felt really bad; all that was in my mind was to survive,” Broda Shaggi said
The comedian also recounted how he had a first surgery in Lagos before he was flown abroad for other surgeries in Dubai.
Broad Shaggi gave an update on his recovery, assuring fans he will return to the screen once he is medically fit.
“I am still using my crutches for now. But there was a period where I couldn’t move without the two crutches. I couldn’t even put my leg on the floor, you know. But now I can walk. I can stand alone without crutches, but I still have to support myself with them,” he said.
