The Chief Executive Officer, Zarttech, Nelson  Ajulo, has emphasised  the critical importance of implementing robust monitoring systems of data security in organisations.

Mr Ajulo, who spoke on Wednesday in Lagos, said that the implementation of robust monitoring system in an organisation would uphold the data integrity of the organisation.

The CEO highlighted the proactive measures that small and medium enterprises and individuals could adopt to mitigate vulnerabilities and safeguard their digital assets.

He highlighted key data protection policies for organisations which includes the implementation of response plans to address data breaches.

Mr Ajulo also highlighted the collection of the minimum amount of personal data necessary for legitimate business purposes, and providing transparent information about data processing activities.

“Navigating the complex landscape of cybersecurity threats requires a proactive approach and the implementation of comprehensive monitoring. Cybersecurity breaches not only compromise sensitive data and erode trust but can also inflict severe financial and reputational damage on organisations,’’ he said.

Mr Ajulo stressed the importance of limiting personal information shared online, using strong, unique passwords and enabling security measures, and staying abreast of privacy rights and best practices.

According to him, emerging technologies contribute to effective data protection strategies such as Generative Artificial Intelligence  as major threats to cybersecurity.
