Jordan, Saudi Arabia pledge support for Lebanon amid Israeli attacks
Jordan and Saudi Arabia have expressed support for Lebanon as Israel intensified its attacks on the country.
Jordan’s deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs and expatriates, Ayman Safadi, reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering support for Lebanon.
He made the remarks in a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, during which he condemned the recent Israeli attacks against Lebanon, according to a statement by the foreign ministry.
Upon directives by King Abdullah II of Jordan, Safadi said Jordan would provide all possible assistance to Lebanon in facing the consequences of the war, and support its efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire.
He emphasised the necessity for the international community to act immediately to achieve an immediate ceasefire, implement Resolution 1701, and support Lebanon.
Jordan, under the directives of the King, has sent two aid planes to Lebanon and continues to send possible assistance to help Lebanon and its people, the statement added.
Also, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah discussed recent developments in Lebanon with his Lebanese counterpart.
In a phone call with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, the Saudi foreign minister highlighted the kingdom’s support for the security and stability in Lebanon.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia highlighted on Sunday that it is closely monitoring the recent escalation of violence in Lebanon.
It urged the international community to take decisive action to preserve regional peace and security, warning against the perils of war.
