Jos DisCo reaffirms commitment to improving power supply

As Nigerians celebrate the 65th independence anniversary, the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) has reiterated its commitment to improving power supply in its franchise.
Rilwanu Shehu, Gombe State operating officer of JED, said this at an event marking the 65th Independence Day on Tuesday in Gombe.
He said Nigeria has made significant progress in the areas of infrastructure development and the power sector, among others.
Mr Shehu said the progress made in the 65 years of self-rule, despite challenges, was worth celebrating, and enjoined Nigerians to mark the event with hope.
The JED official commended the youths for contributing to the transformation of the country through their innovations and ideas, urging them to sustain the tempo.
“On our part, we will continue to improve service delivery to our numerous customers to ensure that there is a power supply for more industries to thrive.
“Gombe is seeing improvement in terms of business environment and industries coming on board. We will continue to support those businesses towards improving the economic life of the state and country.
“Power is the bedrock of any economy, and JED is mindful of that. And that’s why we have invested a lot to make supply better towards driving the growth of small and medium-scale businesses,” he said.
Mr Shehu urged Nigerians to support the government and stakeholders’ efforts towards revamping the power sector and to shun vandalising power infrastructure and installations.
He also urged electricity consumers in Gombe State to ensure prompt payment of their bills, to enable the company to enhance its operations.
