Armed bandits fatally shot nine commuters and abducted 28 persons along Kaduna-Kachia Highway on Tuesday morning, Peoples Gazzette learnt.

The recent attack occurred few days after bandits kidnapped church members along the axis.

The Gazette gathered that the gun-wielding criminals attacked in the early morning of Tuesday, few metres away from Kasuwan Magani.

A resident, Tanko Makeri, told The Gazette on the telephone that the bandits blocked the highway’s two lanes and shot at travellers.

“They attacked those coming from Kaduna and people heading to Kachia. Nine people were killed on the spot why some sustained gunshot wounds. The bandits kidnapped over 20 people,” Mr Makeri said.

A Facebook user, Daniel Jacob, claimed that the brigands whisked away 28 persons after the attack.

“Kidnappers killed 9 People Along Kaduna-Kachia Road Just This Early Morning (500Metres To Kasuwan Magani) And Abducted 28 Persons, I am At The Scene On My Way To Jos Now,” Mr Jacob said.

When contacted, the police spokesperson in Kaduna, Muhammad Jalige, told The Gazette that he was not aware of the attack but said, “I will get back to you as soon as I confirm.”

On March 26, bandits abducted eight members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on the highway while travelling for evangelism.
