Katsina: Dangote Foundation distributes 35,000 bags of rice to vulnerable households

The Aliko Dangote Foundation has distributed 35,000 bags of rice to Katsina’s less privileged and vulnerable households.
Mustapha Umar, the foundation’s representative, said this during the inauguration of the distribution exercise on Tuesday in Katsina.
He said the foundation would distribute 10-kilogramme bags of rice to each beneficiary selected from the 361 wards across the 34 LGAs.
He said the gesture was part of humanitarian assistance to cushion the economic hardship vulnerable persons face.
This, he said, was intended to complement the government efforts at all levels towards improving the wellbeing of the people.
“This year’s gesture is targeting over one million vulnerable Nigerians, aimed at reducing their hardship due to the economic situation in the country.
“The foundation is in various parts of the country to offer similar support to assist people, especially Muslims to enable them to observe the Ramadan fast with relative ease.
“Some 94 vulnerable people benefited with the Ramadan gesture in each of the political wards in the state,” he said.
Aminu Usman, Katsina State Hisbah Board commander, lauded the gesture, adding that it would reduce the people’s hardship.
He urged wealthy individuals to emulate the gesture and assist the needy in society.
