Kwara inaugurates new KWASU governing council

The Kwara State Government on Friday inaugurated the new Kwara State University Governing Council with a charge to position the institution into an enviable height of innovative research.
Inaugurating the board in Ilorin, the state Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi, recalled that few days earlier Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had approved the appointment of the KWASU governing council members.
Mr Alabi explained that the members’ appointment was as a result of their personal integrity and commitment previously exhibited in the service of the people of Kwara at various levels.
He said, “But you have to work with all stakeholders to make KWASU a shining example in innovative research, quality tertiary education, community service and efficient service delivery to the public.’’
The deputy governor urged the chairman and members to work assiduously to further the cause of the institution.
He stated, “At this sober moment in the nation’s history where resources are increasingly scarce, there is the need for prudent management of scarce resources, patriotism and discipline at all levels.”
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Mary Arinde, noted that the inauguration was a significant milestone reflecting the state government’s commitment to the advancement of tertiary education.
She, however, commended the government for its pursuit of excellence in learning and research.
Responding on behalf of other members, the new Council Chairman, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, appreciated the governor.
He lauded him for carefully selecting members of the council to contribute their wealth of knowledge and experience to the development of education in Kwara.
