LAGFERRY reiterates commitment to safety, infrastructure development

The Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) has reiterated its commitment to passengers’ safety, enhanced connectivity, fleet modernisation and infrastructure development.
The managing director of LAGFERRY, Abdoulbaq Balogun, said this in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday in Lagos.
The statement was signed by Akeem Odusina, public affairs unit, LAGFERRY.
Mr Balogun said the commitment would reinforce LAGFERRY’s position as a foremost and trusted water transportation provider in Lagos State.
“In the aftermath of the fire incident, our priority is to ensure the well-being of affected passengers and crew members.
“Prompt medical attention was administered, with all medical expenses covered by our public transportation insurance policy.
“This swift intervention underscores our dedication to passenger safety and wellbeing. Safety measures and inspections have been reinforced across all our fleet and terminal to restate our commitment to safety on the waterways,” he said.
He noted that the agency’s unwavering commitment to environmental, health, safety, and quality practices averted a potential catastrophe at the Ipakodo Terminal.
Mr Balogun stated that adherence to safety protocols and rapid interagencies collaboration prevented the widespread destruction of boats and terminal infrastructure.
Mr Balogun said the agency had successfully retrofitted its boats to meet modern safety and performance standards for continuous improvement and growth strategy.
“We have recorded a significant milestone by embarking on the construction of a state-of-the-art drydock facility to serve as a maintenance hub.
“Retrofitting our boats will enhance the durability of our fleet, ensuring passengers enjoy smoother, safer and more efficient rides across Lagos’ waterways.
“ The drydock will ensure that our fleet remains in optimal condition while reducing downtime and operational costs. It will enhance our self-reliance and contribute to the long-term sustainability of water transportation in Lagos,” he said.
He said the agency would remain committed to providing safe, efficient, and innovative water transportation solutions.
“Our ongoing initiatives in fleet retrofitting, human capital development and infrastructure expansion reaffirms our mission to enhance connectivity, deepening the usage of water transportation and make it safer and more convenient for passengers and businesses,” he said.
