Stephen Ogundipe, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Monday sympathised with residents of Sogunle and Mafoluku in Oshodi over the devastating floods in the communities.

Mr Ogundipe, in a statement, described the destruction, displacement and emotional trauma caused by the problem as heartbreaking.

He prayed for strength and comfort for the affected families.

The lawmaker said he had consistently engaged relevant government agencies through petitions and advocacy over the perennial flooding in the affected areas.

He assured residents he would maintain pressure until permanent flood-control measures and improved drainage infrastructure are delivered.

The lawmaker urged residents to cooperate with the government in efforts to find solutions to the problem.

“Strict environmental regulations and urban renewal policies may become necessary to protect lives and properties and prevent recurring flooding across Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I,” he said.

Mr Ogundipe reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising constituents’ welfare through continuous advocacy for sustainable environmental management.

He also prayed for divine protection against further disasters in the affected communities and beyond.
