Lagos police launch investigation to trace mother of abandoned 10-day-old baby

A 10-day-old abandoned baby recovered by a resident of the Agege area of Lagos has been handed over to the state police command, its spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said.
Mr Hundeyin, who disclosed this to journalists on Friday, said the police had launched an investigation to trace the baby’s mother.
“Investigation is ongoing on how to track the mother of the child,” he said.
He said the baby was discovered on Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m. behind the window of a house at Akindiya Street in the Agege area of Lagos.
He said a resident brought the baby to Pen Cinema Police Division, Agege, on Thursday at about 10:00 a.m.
“The baby has been taken to the Juvenile/Woman Centre, Alakara, in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos, and will be transferred to the orphanage home, Alausa, Ikeja,” he added.
