Lawmaker, NGO to train 250 Bauchi youths in shoe making

Senator representing the Bauchi South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Shehu Buba, has partnered with the Reality Youth for Good Leadership and Support Initiative (RYGLSI).
The collaboration aims to train 250 youths in shoe making and maintenance in Bauchi.
Executive Director of the NGO, Mohammed Dahiru, said this in an interview with journalists in Bauchi on Saturday.
He stated that preparations for the three-day empowerment programme for unemployed youths had been finalised, and the training’s start date would soon be announced after selection of the beneficiaries.
Mr Dahiru explained that Mt Buba had given the NGO approval to proceed with the training and pledged financial support.
According to him, the initiative aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens caused by the current economic challenges, helping the selected trainees become self-reliant and potential employers of labour.
He noted that participants would receive shoe maintenance kits to assist them in their trade.
He stated, “The senator has agreed to sponsor the training, and the goal is to empower the beneficiaries with skills that will help them support themselves and even create jobs for others.
“The beneficiaries will be selected from the Bauchi South Senatorial District, which includes the local government areas of Alkaleri, Kirfi, Dass, Toro, Tafawa Balewa, and Bogoro.”
Mr Dahiru further emphasised that the NGO’s mission was to empower Nigerian youths, promote good governance, encourage community engagement, and help build leadership skills, aligning with the President’s renewed hope agenda.
He called on community leaders and political stakeholders to play a key role in selecting the beneficiaries.
Mr Dahiru also appealed to governments at all levels and well-meaning Nigerians to collaborate in empowering the less- privileged, which could be achieved through partnerships with development organisations and NGOs.
