Asked if the club will take disciplinary action against the striker, the gaffer said “We will do it behind the close door and we will do it openly.”

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he is disappointed with striker Romelu Lukaku for speaking publicly of his unhappiness at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel while addressing a press conference on Friday described Lukaku’s revelation as “noise that the club does not need.”

He said Lukaku’s comments were a distraction at a time the club need more focus to produce positive results that has become hard to come by in their recent matches.

Disclosing that he was surprised by Lukaku’s outburst, Tuchel argued he doesn’t feel the striker was unhappy as his actions in training didn’t depict that he was unhappy.

“But let’s be honest also I don’t like it like I said because it is noise we don’t need we need calm environment and focus and it does not help,” Tuchel confessed to reporters who asked about the matter at the briefing.

Chelsea’s record signing Lukaku during an interview with Sky Italy revealed that he wasn’t happy with the situation at Stamford Bridge, and hinted that he’d like to return to former club Inter Milan in the near future.

His comments followed Chelsea’s disappointing one all draw with Brighton on Tuesday where he scored the club’s only goal.

Lukaku had in 2021 returned to Stamford Bridge from Inter in a record £97 million five-year transfer deal, after a two-year successful stint in Italy.

However, a string of fitness issues has denied the Belgian a constant starting spot in the Tuchel led squad.

Asked if the club will take disciplinary action against the striker, the gaffer said “We will do it behind the close door and we will do it openly.”
