Man, 21, arraigned over alleged theft of prepaid meter, generator

The police in Lagos on Wednesday dragged one Yakubu Adeyanju, 21, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of a prepaid meter, generator coil and other household items.
The defendant is standing trial before Magistrate L K J Layeni on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others now at large.
Mr Uche said that the defendant and his accomplices committed the offences on November 19 at the Ajangbadi area of Ojo in Lagos state.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant broke and entered into the premises of one Wahab Rahmon at night to steal household items.
He said that the items stolen included two electric junction boxes, one Honda Generator coil, electric wires, one prepaid meter, and other items.
The prosecutor said that the total value of stolen items was N345,000.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Section 287, 307, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum
Magistrate Layeni adjourned the case until February 5, 2025 for mention.
