Man jailed 14 years for sodomising 12-year-old boy in Bauchi
Justice Mu’azu Abubakar of the Bauchi State High Court on Tuesday sentenced a 39-year-old man, Sa’idu Mohammed, to 14 years imprisonment for sodomising a 12-year-old boy.
Delivering his verdict, Mr Abubakar, however, gave the convict the option of a N100,000 fine.
The convict had earlier pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy.
The prosecution counsel, S.M. Toro, told the court that the convict, on June 16, 2022, lured the victim to a river in Yelwa community and sodomised him.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 10 and is punishable under Section 11 of the Anti-Kidnapping, Theft of Cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.
He said that the offence also contravened the provisions of Section 13 of the Anti-Kidnapping, Theft of Cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.
