The Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) has provided more than N3.305 billion in funding to 245 community projects in Zamfara.

According to Abubakar Nakwada, the general manager of the state Community Social Development Agency (CSDA), the intervention is under the NG-CARES third cycle 2023 projects.

Mr Nakwada said during a pre-project implementation training for the beneficiaries on Saturday in Gusau that the communities were spread across 14 local government areas of the state.

He said the focus was to support the poor and vulnerable, reduce poverty, and provide basic services in health, education, water, sanitation, nutrition and environment.

The general manager explained that communities develop their project plans and seek funding from the agency.

Mr Nakwada said the agency trains the communities and groups to execute the projects and track implementation.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds to complete the projects on time.

Also speaking, CSDA manager of basic services, Sani Buhari, urged all beneficiaries to ensure proper record keeping and make all their transactions transparent.

“CSDA is ever ready to partner with any community or group that has inadequate social infrastructure,” he added.

He urged the communities to be conscious of environmental hazards while implementing the projects.
