A non-governmental organisation, Hope Empowerment Love Life Oneness International, has donated a block of two classrooms, text books, uniforms and other educational materials to students in some select secondary schools in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The organisation also distributed cooked food to students in the various schools visited on Monday.

Founder of the organisation, Dr Nkiru Agbazue, while presenting the items separately, said that the gesture was aimed at promoting quality education in the country.

She said that the intervention was in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on School Feeding Programme, Dr Yetunde Adeniji, and that of the Special Assistant on Budget and Economic Planning to Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.

She added that the gesture was also meant to provide succour for parents facing difficulties in feeding and providing educational materials for their wards.

She said, “As you can see these children are learning under harsh conditions; they have no roof over their heads with some sitting on bare floors and stones without learning materials. This prompted us to construct these classrooms, provide school uniforms, shoes, stockings, text books, writing materials, school bags, amongst others interventions. This is also a source of empowerment and income opportunities for the people because we hired food vendors, furniture makers, masons and other artisans from the communities.’’

She said that the initiative, to be implemented in the Bokkos and Mangu LGAs would run for one year in the two localities.

Mr Mutfwang, represented by his Special Adviser on Budget, Obadiah Afwanks, lauded the intervention.

He noted that the state government was ready to partner any organisation towards improving the standard of education in the state.
