Niger pledges collaboration with NDLEA to combat drug abuse

Mr Usman restated the government’s commitment to partner with the agency to ensure a drug-free society.

The Niger State Government has pledged collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to fight the menace of drug abuse in the state.

The Secretary to the Niger State Government, Abubakar Usman, said this when he received the Zonal Commander of the NDLEA Zone C, Aliyu Yahaya, on a courtesy visit in Minna.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to partner with the agency to ensure a drug-free society.

Mr Usman urged the agency to intensify an enlightenment campaign for the general public on the dangers of drug abuse and other social vices.

He said, “The present administration is not resting on its laurels in addressing fake and counterfeit drugs across the state to reduce addiction and abuse among youths.”

Earlier, Mr Yahaya commended the state government for fighting drug abuse and other social vices.

He reiterated the agency’s commitment to providing support to the state government in its determination to rid the state of drug abuse.
