The Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army has awarded 40 officers with various merit awards for their outstanding performance in the 2025 promotional examinations.

The ceremony was held at the Taoheed Lagbaja Multi-purpose Hall in Minna Military Cantonment.

In his remarks, Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu said the awards ceremony was part of the command’s initiatives to reward excellence and encourage healthy competition among officers.

Mr Shaibu, represented by Ifeanyi Otu, deputy chief of training, said the event was intended to recognise the hard work, dedication, and commitment of Nigerian Army officers.

“While promoting healthy competition among Nigerian Army personnel, the initiative aims to enhance professionalism within the force,” he added.

He congratulated the awardees and urged them to maintain the momentum in all aspects of their careers.

Mr Shaibu said their performance must translate to tangible results as they continue to contribute to operational administration and logistics challenges that confront their formation and units going forward.

He added that the ceremony was a testament to the Nigerian Army’s commitment to recognising and rewarding excellence, as the awards were given to officers who distinguished themselves in various categories of the promotion exams.

He appreciated the efforts of the various corps in preparing officers for the examinations and thanked President Bola Tinubu for his strategic guidance and continuous support to the Nigerian Army.

Earlier in his welcome address, Kevin Aligbe, outgoing commander of TRADOC, said the officers were recognised for their hard work and dedication to duty.

Mr Aligbe, represented by Peter Okoye, the chief of training at TRADOC, said the event underscored the importance of rewarding excellence in the Nigerian army.

“The awardees being honoured today have exhibited commitment and academic excellence during the 2025 promotional examinations,” he said.

He commended the officers for their outstanding performance and excellence, expressing appreciation for the exemplary leadership and vision of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Hakimi Suleiman, who spoke on behalf of the awardees, thanked the Nigerian Army for the recognition, saying it would inspire junior officers and soldiers to strive for excellence.
