Nigeria’s Gbenga Agboola named vice chairman, U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Africa Business Centre

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Africa Business Centre said Flutterwave’s commitment to strengthening U.S.-Africa ties was the catalyst for Mr Agboola’s appointment.

Nigerian techpreneur and founder of Flutterwave, Gbenga Agboola, has been named the vice chairman, board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Africa Business Centre.

The announcement appointing Mr Agboola to represent the fintech company he founded in 2018 on the board was made on Thursday,” FinTech-1 reported.

“Flutterwave is at the forefront of the digital revolution in Africa,” the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Africa Business Centre said. “Their leadership and vision in the digital economy sector exemplify why Africa is a key player in the global economic narrative.”

The organisation also noted that they “are eager to explore Africa’s digital transformation and to advance the U.S.-Nigeria business initiative announced at UNGA.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Africa Business Centre stressed that Flutterwave’s commitment to strengthening the economic relationship between the United States and Africa was the catalyst for Mr Agboola’s appointment.

Reacting to the appointment, Mr Agboola said, “joining the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa Business Centre’s board as the new vice chair is both a personal achievement and a fulfilment of our commitment to connecting Africa to the global economy.”

The LinkedIn post also added that “Africa is a key player in the global economic narrative, and we are eager to explore and advance digital transformation on the continent. Thank you to the US-Africa Business Center for this great honour.”
