A new sector commander, Nimota Okoro, has assumed duty at the RS 9.4, Imo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Ms Okoro, a corps commander, confirmed this while addressing journalists at the command’s headquarters, in Owerri, on Wednesday.

Ms Okoro resumed in Imo on April 8, 2026, following her promotion from the rank of deputy corps commander to the rank of corps commander.

She thanked the corps marshal, Shehu Mohammed, for the promotion and redeployment and pledged to discharge her constitutional duties accordingly.

She promised to rejig the corps’ operations in the state with a focus on discipline and the welfare of officers.

She also said that the FRSC would continue to cooperate with other sister agencies of government for the benefit of Imo people.

“We will rejig the operational system, step up operational activities and improve the welfare of our officers, while instilling discipline and curbing corruption to its barest minimum.

“There will be improved strategic collaboration and stakeholders’ engagement with sister agencies for improved service delivery to Imo people,” she said.

She advised the motoring public to avoid distractive driving and maintain a 100 per cent concentration while driving to reduce the spate of road crashes.

She added that “road safety is a shared responsibility.”
