OPay wins two consumer awards, reaffirms nationwide trust

OPay, a leading fintech company in Nigeria, has received two major honours at the 5th edition of the Consumers Value Awards (CVA), further highlighting the strong confidence Nigerian consumers place in the fintech brand.
At the awards ceremony held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in Ikeja, Lagos, OPay emerged as the winner of the Most Trusted Brand Award (FinTech) and the Most Consumer Friendly/Innovative FinTech Brand Award.
OPay secured 70.1 per cent of the total valid votes to win the Most Trusted Brand (FinTech) category, while it recorded 70.2 per cent in the Most Consumer Friendly/Innovative FinTech Brand category.
The awards are particularly significant because they are based on a nationwide consumer voting process. According to the Consumers Value Awards, consumers nominate brands they believe have delivered value, after which shortlisted nominees proceed to a public voting exercise. The brand with the highest number of valid votes in each category is declared the winner.
The recognition, therefore, represents more than an industry honour; it reflects the choices of consumers who use and interact with financial technology brands in their everyday lives.
Speaking on the awards, Odiase Ikponmwosa Kolawole, Head of Partnerships, OPay, said the recognition reflected the relationship the company has built with its customers, stating, “This award belongs to our customers. Their trust challenges us to keep delivering simple, reliable and innovative financial services that make everyday life easier.”
Also speaking, Isimeme Ayobami Owobu, Team Director, Key Account Merchants, Retail and FMCG, OPay, said the awards reinforce the company’s commitment to putting consumers and merchants at the centre of its services.
“Being recognised by consumers is deeply meaningful,” he said. “We will continue to listen, improve and create solutions that deliver real value to Nigerians.”
Since its launch in Nigeria in 2018, OPay has built a broad financial services platform serving consumers and businesses across the country, with payments, transfers, savings and merchant services at the centre of its offering.
The latest recognition also comes as OPay marks eight years of operations in Nigeria, with the company continuing to position trust, accessibility, innovation and consumer experience at the heart of its work.
For OPay, the two awards provide a clear message from consumers: the value of a financial service is ultimately measured by the confidence people have in using it every day.
