The Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps), Osun command, on Monday, said it had apprehended six suspects for various alleged offences.

A statement by the command’s spokesperson, Yusuf Abass, said some of the suspects were caught in the act of committing the crimes, while others were based on credible intelligence given to the corps.

He also stated that coordinated operations, in response to multiple distress calls from residents of the state, led to the arrest of some of the suspects.

“One Monsuru Moshood, 35, was caught in the act of stealing electrical cables in an uncompleted building and confessed that the wires had been sold for ₦10,000, despite the wires being valued at over ₦350,000.

“Also, a 21-year-old, Oladare Yusuf, was arrested for alleged theft of cocoa from a farm in Apara village.

“The corps arrested one Olamide Olowo, 39, from Okinni, who was accused of making fake mobile money transfers to foodstuff sellers in Osogbo,“ the spokesperson said.

Mr Abass said operatives of the corps also arrested one Hamzat Mukaila, 45, and Tobi Omoranti, 30, in the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo while attempting to break into a shop.

He praised the vigilance and dedication of the operatives for their swift response and successful arrests.

According to Mr Abass, the suspects will be arraigned in court after the conclusion of the investigation.
