Oyo Abduction: Nobody can stop me from visiting anywhere in Nigeria, says Gumi

Kaduna State-based cleric, Ahmad Gumi, said on Tuesday that nobody can stop him from visiting anywhere in Nigeria.
Recall that Mr Gumi’s visit to Oyo State last November became an online discourse following claims that bandits who abducted Oyo pupils and teachers on May 15, 2026, demanded among other things a future concession in the state law which many considered as a provision for Sharia law.
Mr Gumi, an advocate of amnesty for terrorists and bandits, while reacting to the issue in a Facebook post, said he was being dragged into Oyo State politics.
Mr Gumi said, “I quite understand now how Islampobia is shaping politics in SW and why I was unnecessarily dragged into their dirty local politics.
“I was in Ibadan not by the invitation of any SW muslim individual or group but as a representative of the coalition of northern muslim Ulama.
“Can anybody stop me from going anywhere in Nigeria? I believe the whole saga is tele-guided by both foreign and local interests to promote a narrative and polarise the country.”
Mr Gumi’s statement comes as his pro-terrorists and bandits statements were recirculated, and many Nigerians referenced his visit to Oyo State months before the abduction.
On November 19, 2025, Mr Gumi visited the state as a special guest and speaker at the Southern Nigerian Ulama Summit held at the University of Ibadan.
