Panel beater gets four years in prison for robbery

The Jos Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday sentenced a 32-year-old panel beater, Husseini Bello, to four years in prison for robbery.
The convict pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, force and causing harm brought against him by the police.
The magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict to one year in prison for conspiracy, with an option of a N20,000 fine; another one year for force, with an option of a N30,000 fine; and two years for causing harm, with an option of a N50,000 fine.
She also ordered him to pay N150,000 in compensation to the complainant.
While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the complainant, Precious Ikechukwu, reported the case on March 12 at the ‘A’ Division Police station.
Mr Gokwat said the convict and his friend, now at large, conspired to rob the complainant inside a tricycle,
He said they collected her bag containing N75,000 and pushed her out of the moving tricycle, causing her bodily injuries.
