PDP BoT affirms Ude-Okoye as party national secretary, urges NWC to initiate inauguration

The PDP BoT reached the decision after it adopted the report of its committee led by Kabiru Turaki, on the party’s national secretary tussle.

The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party has endorsed its former National Youth Leader, Sunday Ude-Okoye, as its national secretary.

This was disclosed in a communiqué issued by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, after the 80th trustees’ meeting on Wednesday.

Mr Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu had been embroiled in a fight over the position. .

The PDP BoT said it “recognises Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the substantive national secretary of the PDP in full obedience to the declaratory judgment of the High Court of Enugu as also upheld by the Court of Appeal there being no contrary or overriding judgment from any court of superior jurisdiction.”

The affirmation of Mr Okoye as the party’s national secretary, was made after the BoT adopted the report of its committee led by Kabiru Turaki, on the party’s national secretary tussle,

The BoT urged the, “National Working Committee (NWC) to recognise and immediately swear in Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the national secretary of the PDP in obedience to the judgment of the Court of Appeal.”

The PDP governors, led by Bala Mohammed, had also on January 31, endorsed the Appeal Court’s judgment and asked the party’s National Working Committee to implement it.

Meanwhile, the BoT also unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Mr Wabara and Ahmed Makarfi, as its chairman and secretary respectively, for their outstanding leadership in piloting the affairs of the BoT and stabilising the party.
