Plateau ADC chair reaffirms support for Mark’s leadership

The chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Plateau, Hanatu Gagara, has reaffirmed support for David Mark-led leadership of the party.
Ms Garga said on Wednesday in Jos that Mr Mark and Rauf Aregbesola were validly nominated as chairman and secretary by the National Executive Committee of ADC.
Ms Garga stated that anybody claiming to be a leader of the ADC was an imposter that wanted to cause confusion and disaffection in the party.
“As far as I am concerned, I know who the leaders are, and we don’t have any other leadership. That is Senator David Mark and his team. They are the ones we recognise, and that is what I know.
“I was part of the NEC meeting; we were with them, and we all accepted them. All of the state chairmen who are members of NEC.
“So, I cannot now exempt myself and say I don’t know anything about it. I was part of it, and I am fully aware,” Ms Garga explained.
Ms Gagara distanced herself from a report that some state chairmen of the party were not in support of Mark’s leadership.
She added that the Plateau chapter of ADC was united and committed to serving as a credible alternative to the ruling party.
According to her, screening of members ahead of ward and state congresses which commenced on Tuesday with the congresses proper slated for Wednesday.
The chairman expressed optimism that the result of the congresses would stand since the Independent Electoral Commission was duly communicated in line with the electoral act.
She urged members to come out in their numbers and participate in the congresses.
