The Plateau government has awarded a contract for the construction of a network of access roads within the Jos wildlife park.

The project is part of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), a World Bank project in the state.

Garba Gonkol, the ACReSAL project manager in the state, presented the letter for the award of the contract to the contractor on Monday in Jos.

According to Mr Gonkol, the contract, worth more than N27 million, would be a significant step toward enhancing infrastructure in the park and promoting sustainable tourism in the state.

“These roads will not only improve accessibility for visitors in the park but also ensure that our natural resources are preserved for future generations.

“The Jos wildlife park is known for its rich biodiversity and unique ecosystems; it attracts both local and international tourists.

“These roads, when completed, will facilitate better access to various attractions within the park, particularly the wildlife viewing areas.

“So, this move is part of the government’s efforts toward making Plateau a destination for tourists,” he said.

Speaking, Olukoya Olusegun, the team lead for Tolsega, the contracting firm, thanked the state government and ACReSAL for finding them worthy of handling the project.

Mr Olusegun promised to deliver the job within specification.

The state government, through the ACReSAL project, has since commenced the construction of a perimeter fence at the park.
