Police arrest man with pistol, ammunition, PoS machine in Edo

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested one Francis Obinna for being in possession of a pistol, rounds of ammunition, and a PoS machine.
The command said in a statement that the 22-year-old suspect, who was on his way to Anambra from Lagos, was nabbed along the Benin-Lagos Expressway on April 7, 2024.
It read, “This young man, Francis Okoye Obinna’m’, age 22 years old, boarded a bus from Lagos heading to Anambra State, was intercepted by operatives of the Edo State Command while on purposeful stop-and-search along the Benin-Lagos expression way on April 7, 2024.
“During the search, the following exhibits were found in his possession: a brownie pistol with breach No. PZ1833, nine rounds of 6mm ammunition, and a PoS machine.
“In his confessional statement, he said it was one man called Emma in Lagos who gave him the gun to use it to threaten one Mr Paul Okoye, who he alleged to have killed his father with a charm in Anambra State.”
Upon investigation in Lagos, the command said it discovered that the suspect’s confessional statement was untrue.
The command added that the investigation is still ongoing to know how he came about the gun, the PoS, and what he used them for.
