Police nab 303 suspects for drug offences in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command said it arrested 303 suspects in connection with drug abuse, hoarding, and peddling following a joint security operation within the state.
The command’s Spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this to journalists in Damaturu on Thursday.
He said the coordinated raids on black spots and criminal hideouts across the state were part of efforts to curb the rising tide of drug-related crimes and violence.
“Three alleged drug barons are currently undergoing discreet investigation by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),” the spokesman added.
Mr Abdulkarim said drug abuse remains a driving force behind criminality, contributing to addiction, mental health issues, broken social ties, and diminished life opportunities.
He urged the public to remain vigilant, support anti-drug campaigns, and report suspicious activities to relevant authorities.
He stated, “The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking through enforcement, awareness campaigns, and collaboration with stakeholders.’’
Mr Abdulkarim encouraged residents to contact the Police Public Relations Unit via 08062722848 to report drug-related activities or obtain more information.
