The Kogi State police command has planned to embark on town hall meetings tagged “meet the people outings” toward enhancing peace and security in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, the Ohimege Igu of Koton-Karfe, Saidu Akawu Salihu, on Wednesday.

Mr Dantawaye explained that the town hall meetings were solely to enhance police-community relationships, gather feedback, and align security strategies with the needs of local residents.

The commissioner assured the monarch and the people of ongoing efforts to improve security through inter-agency cooperation, intelligence sharing, and consistent community dialogue.

He commended the traditional ruler for fostering inter-agency collaboration and encouraging peace and security in the community.

The CP said that the traditional institution plays a vital role in ensuring local stability, stressing that the level of coordination displayed during the visit reflected strong leadership by the royal father.

He, however, appealed for continued support and synergy through grassroots support with intelligence information.

Responding, the royal father lauded the CP for his commitment to grassroots engagement and proactive approach to policing.

The traditional ruler highlighted his longstanding commitment to community development and security.

He cited his previous roles in promoting security in both the executive and legislative arms of government before becoming a traditional ruler, where he continued with the same passion.

The monarch reaffirmed his readiness to continue supporting security agencies for peace and progress in the state.

The CP and his management team also visited the Divisional Police Station in Koton-Karfe, where he held interactive sessions with stakeholders including ward heads, religious leaders, and community representatives.

Mr Dantawaye urged members of the community to continue to collaborate with the police and other security agencies and volunteers for a more effective fight against crimes in the area.
