Police probe poisoning of tourism minister

The FCT Police Command has begun investigating the poisoning of Tourism Minister Lola Ade-John, who has been receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi.
On Saturday, the FCT commissioner of police, Haruna Garba, directed the Mabushi Police Division to immediately hand over the ongoing investigation to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
“The CP has ordered the Mabushi Police Division that was investigating the matter to immediately transfer it to the SCID,” SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT police spokesperson, disclosed in a telephone interview with The Punch.
Peoples Gazette had previously reported that Ms Ade-John, 60, was hospitalised after suffering acute poisoning from unknown origins.
Ms Ade-John, a career banker and tech investor, was on a machine to aid her breathing, our sources said.
