Police tear-gas #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Tollgate

Police have fired tear gas to disperse #EndSARS protesters demonstrating at the Lekki Tollgate to mark the second anniversary of the nationwide movement.
Armed policemen stormed the protest venue early on Thursday.
A video clip seen by Peoples Gazette shows the protesters scampering for safety.
The protesters, mostly youths, had on Tuesday announced it would go on a procession at the Lekki Tollgate to commemorate the massacre of unharmed youths at the tollgate on October 20, 2020.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime has repeatedly denied killing protesters at the tollgate.
“The fact that nobody has been brought to justice over the torture and killings of #EndSARS protesters is a stain on Nigeria’s human rights records. Meanwhile, human rights violations by the police continue unabated,” said Osai Ojigho, director of Amnesty International Nigeria in a press release on Thursday.
Ms Ojigho added, “The authorities must ensure that suspected perpetrators of the deadly crackdown on #EndSARS protesters are brought to justice in fair trials and address impunity for police brutality.”
