Protesters defy curfew in Jos, square up with military officers
Angry #EndBadGovernance protesters hit the streets of Jos, Plateau State, in defiance of a 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government.
In a video shared by Channels TV on Monday, security agencies were seen trying to calm down the angry crowd at Dilimi area of Jos North Local Government Area, before they left the scene.
The combination of operatives at the scene includes officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. .
The state Governor Caleb Mutfwang in a statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, on Sunday, declared a 24-hour curfew in the Jos and Bukuru metropolis.
The curfew followed cases of hoodlums, armed with daggers, machetes, and other dangerous weapons, breaking into shops and restaurants, along Bauchi Road community and Zoloft junction earlier on Sunday, looting foodstuffs and other valuable items.
