An Ilorin-based pastor, Philip Adesanmi, has accused religious leaders of misleading their followers by only preaching prosperity.

Mr Adesanmi, in an interview on Saturday, said most clerics and religious leaders only focused on prosperity during their sermons or messages rather than preaching love and a change of attitude.

“Religious leaders are discussing prosperity and ignore the need for a change of attitude among their followers.

“We are misleading them if we cannot tell them the truth.”

Mr Adesanmi lamented most clerics ignore the fact that positive behaviour among their members is a key component to success in life.

“Teach your members on the need for unity, love, hard work and positive behaviour. It will help build them for the future challenges,” he said.

However, the church leader advised the public to stop believing in a shortcut to success but rather embrace hard work.
