The Service Compact with All Nigerians has urged the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund to intensify public awareness of its activities, enabling more Nigerians to benefit from its services.

Anthony Oshin, acting national coordinator of SERVICOM, gave the advice while presenting the SERVICOM Compliance Evaluation report of 10 regional offices and branches of the fund to NSITF management in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr Oshin was represented by Ngozi Akinbodewa, head of operations, SERVICOM.

The offices visited were the Abuja regional office, as well as those in Jos, Asaba, Kano, Enugu, Bauchi, Owerri, Maiduguri, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.

The evaluation aims to promote citizen-focused service delivery in ministries, departments, and agencies by identifying gaps and making recommendations for improvement.

According to Mr Oshin, while the NSITF has made progress in reducing the timeframe for processing claims, it needs to expand awareness and disseminate information in local languages to reach more Nigerians.

He said many potential beneficiaries were unaware of the fund’s role as a social insurance scheme that provides compensation for employees who suffer workplace accidents.

“The fund should develop awareness campaigns using local languages and culturally relevant communication methods such as town hall meetings, radio jingles, and community drama.

“This will increase contributions, expand coverage, and improve service delivery,’’ he said.

To improve monitoring and public sensitisation, Mr Oshin urged the NSITF to consider providing additional logistical support, such as operational vehicles or building satellite offices for field staff.

“This will help bridge the distance challenges between the local government areas and ensure consistent outreach, especially in remote communities,“ he said.

The managing director of NSITF, Oluwaseun Faleye, commended SERVICOM for the evaluation, saying the report provided insights into areas requiring short-, medium-, and long-term improvements.

He stated that the fund had streamlined paperwork to facilitate easier claims processing and had invested in IT infrastructure to enhance service delivery.

Mr Faleye added that NSITF was strengthening occupational safety and health initiatives to minimise workplace accidents and was also planning targeted advocacy campaigns in English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and other local languages to deepen awareness.

He assured that the management would continue to provide staff with the necessary tools to deliver efficient services while addressing challenges such as delays in file movement and power supply in branch offices.

Mr Faleye thanked SERVICOM for its partnership, noting that an independent evaluation would further enhance the agency’s service delivery.
