Several football fans hospitalised after road crash

Around 17 football fans are currently receiving treatments after an Iris single-decker minibus carrying them was involved in a collision with a black Skoda Fabia vehicle, the BBC reported.
According to the BBC, the incident occurred near the A1M near Pontefract in the Borough of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, around 7:00 p.m. local time. A third bus is suspected to be involved in the crash but has yet to be identified.
The Iris single-decker minibus was carrying fans of South Shields FC, who were on their way home from a 3-2 away loss to Tamworth FC in the National League on Saturday.
Seven of those involved in the accident reportedly suffered serious injuries.
The incident prompted the closure of the road leading to the site of the accident until Sunday as emergency services carried out operations.
Reacting to the incident in a social media post on Saturday night, South Shields FC said: “Our thoughts go out to the supporters involved in a crash on the way home from today’s game.
“At this moment of time, we have no further details; however, we hope everyone is safe and recovering.”
