Sunday Dare disowns #EndSARS campaigners, wants brutal squad reformed

The Nigerian youth minister advances the police’s narrative to keep the brutal anti-robbery squad in place.

Nigerian youth minister Sunday Dare on Friday insisted that the brutal police anti-robbery squad should be reformed as not scrapped as being demanded by Nigerians and other voices across the globe.

“I join the REFORM SARS NOW call! The process has started & should be followed through,” Mr. Dare said. “Youth have been heard! Youth are the ones on the receiving end of the nefarious activities of bad SARS officers. Youth deserve protection, not decimation. Govt is committed to protect D youth.”

The minister’s comments immediately enraged Nigerians, with many seeing it as a betrayal. Nigerians have been demanding an immediate end to SARS, which has been blamed for killing, maiming, blackiming and extorting the youth over the years. The campaign trended at number one worldwide on Friday.
