Supreme Court verdict ‘ll make me deliver on my promises for Osun: Gov Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has promised people of the state more dividend of democracy after the Supreme Court affirmed him as the duly elected governor of Osun on Tuesday.
Mr Adeleke spoke to journalists at his residence in Ede on Tuesday, shortly after the Supreme Court revalidated his victory at the July 16, 2023, governorship election.
He said “the task ahead is making sure residents of the state enjoy good governance.
“Now that I have been affirmed as the duly elected governor, it is time to give the people of the state more dividend of democracy.
“To me, if you want to be a leader, you must have the fear of God. I have the fear of God, I don’t deceive the people,” he said.
Mr Adeleke assured people in the state that what he had promised during his electioneering campaign, he would do.
“I introduced what they call fact-checking. Go and fact check me when I was in the Senate.
“Everything I said I was going to do, I did it then and now I have started doing what I promised the people of Osun.
“Even when the litigation was still going on, we were still working: fixing roads and doing what we were expected to do. It is not business as usual.
“What the past administration were used to is business as usual but now, the real governance is here in Osun State.” he said
The immediate past governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), had challenged the victory of Mr Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the governorship election.
Mr Oyetola was declared winner of the election by the Election Petitions Tribunal in Osogbo, but the Appeal Court and Supreme Court in Abuja upheld Adeleke’s victory at the poll.
