AFRICOM said, “No U.S. or Nigerian forces were harmed. The targeted operations eliminated more than 200 terrorists, including Abu-Bilal al-Minuki.”
The cleric’s cryptic Facebook post followed President Donald Trump’s announcement that Abu-Bilal Al-Munuki had been killed.
The presidential spokesperson said security officials have now clarified that the earlier listing was a misattribution.
He said U.S. forces have been hunting the slain ISIS kingpin for several months.
According to him, discussions focused on shared security interests, military training, force development, among others.
A statement noted that during the briefing, Lt. Gen. Brennan and Ambassador Scott would discuss the importance of their engagements in Angola and Namibia.
According to him, Nigeria is a strategic African partner of the U.S.
