Security personnel were at the scene on Tuesday morning to cordon off the place and prevent hoodlums from looting and perpetrating other crimes in the area.
An eyewitness said some people who were angry about the non-availability of cash in banks and the rejection of the old naira notes protested and set ablaze two vehicles around Express Junction and Ovwian
Mr Edafe said the suspect was apprehended by the team on Monday in an undisclosed hotel following reports of cult clashes in Sapele and other parts of the state.
Mr Edafe said the modus operandi of the syndicate was to lure unsuspecting young girls on Facebook, take them to a hotel, and drug and gang rape them.
The police spokesman said the hoodlums, who could not withstand the firepower of the operatives, abandoned the victims and escaped.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said in a statement on Wednesday in Asaba that the move was to ensure a crime-free Christmas and new year celebration.
The police command in Delta says it killed a suspected kidnapper and rescued a kidnap victim.
