The state CP commended the bravery and professionalism of the operatives and the support of the military.
Mr Edafe described the incident on Ozoro as “very unfortunate.”
The arrest followed viral videos showing different scenes of ladies being chased, dragged, and molested by scores of men on the streets of Ozoro.
The Delta State Police Command has ordered an investigation into the commemoration of the “rape festival” in the Ozoro community.
He said that effort was on to apprehend other members of the criminal gang.
The suspect, who said two of the friends are 18 years old and the third is 20, confessed that they used the money to buy themselves clothes
Mr Edafe said that the victims were taken to the hospital for proper medical examinations.
Mr Edafe said that the police team was led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ekpan division, CSP Labe Joseph.
He said a locally fabricated Beretta pistol and 15 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.
The police spokesperson said the clampdown was based on the need to be proactive and prevent crime ahead of the yuletide.
